South of Polaris create intriguing alternative folk music, bringing flamenco influence from southern Spain, a love of folk and rock, and thoughtful, poignant lyrics into their unique sound.

In the past year they have travelled their music as far as Huelva, Spain, Ventnor Fringe in the Isle of Wight, the Albany in London and The Horn in St Albans, and The Bigg Theatre in Biggleswade, as well as playing at venues closer to home.

Their first three singles can be found on all digital platforms and have been played on BBC Introducing and Cambridge 105fm’s New Music Generator show.

We were recently interviewed by Alan Ritson for his Fine Folk programme on Lincoln City Radio, who provided the following review of our music:

“Bursting with originality and invention, these poetic outpourings by ‘South of Polaris’ are sublime, intricate and precise. These entertaining self penned songs are enthralling, unfailingly listenable and make an important contribution to the folk tradition.”

Debuting as a solo guitarist, age 15, at The National Poetry Society’s annual awards, Jo Clack has been playing, performing and writing for over 40 years.

Much of that time has been spent writing and performing with the exceptional voice and talent of Paul Howard. Playing in and around London, there’s not many venues in the city – 100 Club, Borderline, Wilton’s Musichall, 12 Bar, Red Lion Theatre – Jo hasn’t played. Right back at the beginning, Jo’s band The Sullivans opened for The Stone Roses in a gloriously sweaty Dingwalls.

Championed by Steve Lamacq, Jo has been played on Steve’s BBC Radio 6 programme as The Sullivans and Howard & Clack. Releasing an album of their William Blake arrangements in 2008, Paul and Jo were invited to perform at Tate Britain for the 250th birthday of Blake.

A seasoned accompanist on guitar, mandolin and recently mandocello, Jo has recently concentrated on his own songwriting and performance. His songs mix the personal, place and political. The debut solo album ‘Atlas’ was released in 2024 and his second album ‘Small Stuff’ is due for release early 2025.

Blending the poetic and the playful, Man With A Corduroy Heart is a British Americana artist whose music captures the beauty of mundane life.

In 2024, he released his debut album, “Things Are A Little Bit…”, a record quietly created in his basement while his newborn slept. The album captures life’s gentle humour and tender moments from trying to get the baby to sleep with the music of Bob Marley to why having dreams is just too much effort, or how you can find love through watching Escape To The Country. The album has been praised for its authentic charm and storytelling.

“One of the more exciting names emerging so far this year” – Mystic Sons
“Perfect end-of-the-night music” – Luna Collective
“A lyrical masterpiece…criminally underrated” – Lost In The Manor
