St George’s Day Special with Barry Goodman, Phil Hewett & Sedbuskers

Barry Goodman is a quintessentially English folk singer and performer, with a wealth of beautiful old traditional songs and some great stories to match! A long-time friend of the club, Barry has been involved in the folk music scene for the past fifty years! Expect dramatic, melodic, lyrical and funny songs from the English tradition as well as some of his own compositions and songs from other writers, accompanied by melodeon, concertina or guitar, and sometimes not accompanied at all!

Another artist well-known to club regulars is Phil Hewett. Phil has played at folk clubs and events for over 50 years. His music is an eclectic mix of English folk and American blues, traditional and self penned often inspired by local stories and legends. He is a superb guitarist and songwriter and has been a regular and very popular performer at Baldock Folk Club for many years.

Sedbuskers, sometimes known as the Bullenbush Band duo, are songwriters Ian and Sue Bembridge. “The Lady in the Lake” is their first album as the Sedbuskers, with the pair contributing to Bullenbush Band albums since 1987 and Ian launching a solo album in 2006.

Sedbuskers have performed all over the UK, from the ‘Old Profanity Showboat’ in Bristol Harbour to the main stage for the launch of the ‘Tour de France 2014’ in Hawes, North Yorkshire. They are equally at home in small folk clubs or performing on open-air festival stages.
