Double Header with Paul Cowley + Linda Moylan

We’re looking forward to welcoming blues guitarist Paul Cowley to the club for the first time. Singer, songwriter and acoustic musician, combining bottleneck and fingerstyle guitar, Paul draws his inspiration from country blues.

He has an uncanny talent for writing and performing one of the most basic and beautiful of all blues styles. Add to that a sense of traditional folk music, throw in some Americana, and you have his unique approach. A native of Birmingham UK, he moved to Southern Brittany 15 years ago. Alongside other projects he has released 6 albums to critical acclaim. He tours all year round in France, Belgium & UK.

His last two albums – Just What I Know and Long Time Comin’ – made “albums of the year” on Gary Burnett’s highly knowledgeable and readable blog, Down at the Crossroads. And Just What I Know from 2018 made Burnett’s “20 Best Acoustic Blues Albums” of the decade from 2010 to 2019, taking its place among some of the best. “When I started tentatively all those years ago, I had no idea of the path I had embarked upon. It’s a wonderful adventure, hopefully one that will continue for years to come.”

Linda Moylan is an Irish born, London raised folk singer-songwriter. Linda’s voice can spiral from earthy to angelic in an instant and delivers the moving and relatable narratives of her songs with an enchanting Irish troubadour twist.

Linda’s second album ‘The Merchant’ (Talking Elephant Records, 2021) was produced by folk royalty in the form of Phil Beer (Show Of Hands / Albion Band etc) and she also collaborated with the great Julie Felix on her final release ‘Freedom Is A Woman’.

Linda’s third full album, 2024’s ‘The Fool’, has received plenty of airplay and positive reviews and is a definitive, mature and self-assured piece of work that completes Linda’s transition from gifted singer to fully-fledged and unique musical artist. ‘The Fool’ was included in At The Barrier’s list of best albums of 2024 and Linda was shortlisted for Fatea magazine’s female artist of 2024.

In the live format Linda is generally accompanied by her long-term co-writer and guitarist, Ian Montague.

“…it really is about time she was reverently spoken about in the same Celtic folk pantheon as Mary Black, Lisa Hannigan and Eleanor McEvoy.” – Mike Davies, Folking.com

We also have a floor spot from Heron’s Creek who are a folk fusion, progressive folk duo with guitar and mandolin. Be prepared for original blends of flamenco, jazz, blues, world music and traditional folk. Maciek and Cameron present an eclectic variety of pieces, drawing inspiration from several styles. They infuse folklore elements with traces of classical technique and jazz harmony. A love of primal and mythological motifs also finds its place in their music. In 2024 they released first their EP “Roll the Egg”
