“I see Lizzy Hardingham a lot, and there’s a reason for that. You’ll always get a brilliant, full on performance with an incredible voice and a lot of charm. Lizzy picks her covers carefully but her real strength is songwriting and latest album “How Did We Get Here” is a great example. There are songs on there that you’ll never tire of hearing, whether performed with a full band or in a solo set as it was last night.
Baldock Folk Club knows how to put on the best and I was also impressed by the supports last night. Rhys Wilson Music has been playing and performing for many years and brings all that experience to his songs which have a good range from childhood memories to adulthood and everything that entails. He also choses his covers well, being an admirer of Gordon Lightfoot.
Ellie Walker is fairly local, from Cambridgeshire, and impressed everyone with her self-written songs, accompanying herself of piano. We only got three songs and I think everyone agreed that wasn’t enough. Again Ellie brings real life to her storysongs, and has a lovely voice. I think she will be back, hopefully for a longer set.
